My name is Shannon Towell and I'm a seasoned Experience Designer who lives and breathes usable design.
Currently living in Melbourne Australia, I have led and contributed to web, app and research projects for some of Australia’s largest and most beloved companies and organisations.
From museums and zoos to large enterprise accounts, I've got what it takes to get to the heart of the issue and problem-solve my way to a solution using an array of tools and skills at my disposal. Of course keeping accessibility and user experience at the core of every decision.
When I'm not designing you can find me in a colourful dress or jumpsuit interrupting my cat napping, weight lifting, travelling, and reading.
Experience Design, sometimes called UX (User Experience) is the practice of putting the user first.
There are many ways to go about it, but it basically boils down to knowing your audience and what they want either by talking to them directly or relying on data.
Whether I'm creating websites or interactive experiences ensuring the outcome is user-friendly, accessible, and intuitive whilst looking brilliant and eye-catching is what I'm aiming for.
With years of experience across various industries, and my skills across multiple areas of design I have quite the arsenal of skills to utilise depending on the project.
Regardless of the project I ensure that User Experience is front and centre for not only your customers and clients, but for you! Leading to an enjoyable piece of work that does exactly what you need it to do.
UI entails usually designing for a digital outcome, think websites, apps, and dashboards. Figma is the market standard software that I'm fluent in using. There is almost always crossover between UX and UI to ensure a beautiful experience that everyone can use.
Accessibility is a core aspect of making usable experiences, ensuring no one feels left out.
I've worked with the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) for the digital work for numerous years. For interactive work I am also familiar with the Smithsonian Guidelines for Accessible Exhibition Design.
With a Bachelor in Communication Design, I use my graphic design expertise to enhance the look of my projects, with a keen eye for effective typography and hierarchy.
As you may have noticed by now, I loooove interactivity and making things move. Interaction Design is a fun area of design where animation can increase engagement, it can also assist with intuitiveness and branding.
If I can sprinkle animation into a project, you know I will!
Got a juicy idea, and need some creative assistance in bringing it to life? Look no further, I'm your pixel-perfect partner in crime.
